Thanks DragonfireGirl!!
I didn't know about this one being the last year of the R !!! I REALLY like the looks of the "R"... So... Which color did you get ??? I would love an orange one...
i got mine in pewster grey. put over 100 miles on it yesterday. rode it to work today to show it off. im having a blast. i take it easy going through the sharp curves though. im not that good at countersteering yet

That's the best way to do it kiddo... approach them with caution and you can always start acceleratingcoming out...
The problem with curves... you can't see around them... even ones you've been through a thousand times can surprise you...(stopped cars... debris... wet...) you just never know... treat them like you've never been through it before and you'll be ok...
id heard about sportys being top heavy and hard for a girl to hold up but thats not really the case. certainly is a lot easier than that fat boy i sat on. ive gotten the feel of it now. well im gonna go riding now. see ya
Hey Congratulations! Sportsters are a blast and no they are not difficult to ride if you've got good balance. However, having recently ridden a couple of bigger bikes, their lower cente of gravity compared to the sportsters is kind of sweet.
Interestingly, I noticed too that the shifter is shorter and easier for me on my 883 than compared to my husband's 1200.
Have fun, be safe and keep the shiney side up [sm=smiley20.gif]
Congrats DFG. Be sharp and stay smart out there. And remember....they aren't watching you so make sure your watching them.
Oh by the way....if you lower the bike with shorter shocks you'll love the way it handles.
I put on 10.5 inch shocks and it makes backing her up, standing and even rideinga whole lot better. Good luck and post a pic of the bike soon.
