My tank has what looks like old paint chips floating around in it so i took the tank off pulled the petcock and cleaned it out tried flushing it with water and still have crap rolling in there i was thinking maybe compressed air any tips would be great thanks! Then was thinking trying the seal kit..
I used the gas tank sealer from Caswell on a Paughco tank. Prepped it by putting in some mineral spirits and drywall screws and giving it a good shaking. That was what the kit recommended, and it seems to have worked great.
I got a tank doing the same thing. Tried cleaning it out with water, air paint thinner and acetone. Still peeling off.
Guy online said don't worry, the stuff will not pass thought the fuel stainer.
Guess what, he is right.
No problems with the flakes just don't look in the tank.
Don't use Kreem sealer!
I had it in my Softail for years then it reacted with something in the gas and turned back to a glue like substance, Clogged up filter, fuel lines & carb.
I eventually had to replace the tanks because I couldn't get it all out. Flushed & cleaned filter, fuel lines & rebuilt/cleaned carb.
I don't use any sealer now. Just keep the tank full of fuel with stabuil 360 added during Winter to prevent rust
