Default Progressive 444 shocks

Anyone have any experience and pro's or con's on these. Found a set of mint Harley saddlebags for less than half of new cost, and since they will require some disassembly of the shocks might be a good time to look at options. Sort of looking for better cruising ride on back roads. Being a noob any thoughts/experiences would be appreciated.

Maybe try the search feature. There's a lot of mention of them in these threads. From what I've read in the past, those that have them are happy with them. A lot of the Dyna guys like them too. Let's face it, just about anything is an improvement over stock.

From all accounts would be a worthwhile investment. The only question is, what length. Not sure how it is measured but Progressive recommends 13". Will be riding solo mostly.

I've never personally rode the 444's, so I can't say if they're worth the price or not. But like I mentioned, I've read good reviews here on them. If you can swing a little more money, Ohlin's are outstanding shocks, but pricey.

I'm not sure of the length of your stock shocks, but maybe somebody else can advise. I'd guess 11.5" to 12". If you raise the bike with the back tire off the ground, you can measure from the upper center mounting bolt to the lower mounting bolt. I'm sure 13" shocks will raise your bike, but they'll ride better as well.

If you're short, you probably won't want to go with longer shocks. But if you're taller, I'd do it. You'll get better ground clearance as well.
