Transmission oil
This thread is proof that Sportsters are girl bikes.
You guys argue like a bunch of chicks.

Now that was just cruel....

Not so cruel, he could have said "Blonde Chicks"

Bitch.

Well, I just drove my girlybike to the mountains and back on a little run, the tranny felt real smoooooth with the 20-50 synthetic in it.
I did have the motor cut out though when I first started to climb when I was holding the throttle wide open; I had to pull over until it revived itself. Never happened before, never happened since. Someone told me it might be the R's cutout thing that Harley is supposed to have put on some of their engines or something that cuts out the engine when the R's get too high or whatever. It was the first time I held the throttle wide open for that length of time while going up a mountain.
Whatever it was, it never happened again. I'm glad I wasn't passing anyone.
I still wish thatSporties had a 6th gear though. I would have loved to have been able to shift into 6th at 75-80 or so, as usual, especially coming down off the mountain.
Enjoy the view in the pic; just took the pics today. The good lookingcuss in the blue denim jacket is yours truly. The other guy is my best friend's wife's husband.

I use my 6th gear all the time...at speeds far below 80. I always used to hunt for a 6th gear and kept trying to upshift when their was no gear left. If the Sporty ever gets one...I highly recommend it.
Keep the R's down, I always say.
I'm always looking for it too, and wishing it was there as well.
And BTW, just for the record, 75-90 GEAR oil has a higher real viscosity than 20-50 weight motor oil, no matter how you might try to slice it. It's a HEAVIER oil.
Actually, the 90 weight gear oil has a little higher viscosity index than the 50 weight motor oil.
Look at the chart across the top of the 90 weight gear oil in comparison to the 50 weight motor oil. Unless my eyes deceive me -and it wouldn't be the first time - the 90 weight gear oil has a higher rating on top.
And for the record, HD's 20-50 synthetic is not called "motor oil," it's called "motorcycle lubricant." I could be wrong, but I believe it's not exactly the same oil as a standard 20-50 synthetic automobile motor oil.
