Default Putting a 2005 rubber mounted engine on a kraft tech solid mount frame?

I have a 2005 sporty 883 and I want to bobber it out old school style. I am in love with the look of a rigid frame and the weld on hard tails just dont look quite right to me. not to mention i would have to have a shop weld it on for me, with the labor costs i might as well just buy a whole new frame. But i noticed that the 04+ frames are like $400-$500 more than the 03 and older frames. i don't care about the ride quality, I only have time for a couple short rides a month. but dag gonnit i wanna look bad *** doing it! but i still want to save a few bones. So my question is as the title says. is it possible?

Good question, although I would think that Kraft Tech will be able to give you an answer. The engine mounting points for the rubber mount engines aren't the same as the earlier solid mounts IIRC, so a rubber-mount won't bolt right into a solid mount frame. That will probably require customising the solid-mount frame, which is fine if you have the skills, but could add costs if you pay someone to do it.

In a sold mount frame the engine keeps the frame flex down to a safe limit. Better check if the solid mount frame is stiff enough for a rubber mount engine. If it isn't stiff enough then it could get very dangerous.

If you're trying to put a rubbermount motor in to a frame designed for a solid mount, it will NOT fit. They are completely incompatible. It would require extensive modifications to both frame and motor case, which would come in well above the cost to just get the proper frame in the first place.

$400-$500 is a lot cheaper (and safer)than re-engineering a frame.
