Default Baffle removal in front pipe

I have a 2006 XL883L, I have drilled out the back baffle with a metal hole saw and it sound ok. I have been reading about removing the front and now I am confused. Some say its ok and some say its not. Does it hurt the engine if you remove the baffle in the front? Does the cat mean you can not remove it? I just don;t have the money to buy new pipes this year and I would love to have a better sound. Can anyone out there help me with this decision?

Thanks,
Josh

Drill it out it would be worse to have one drilled out and not the other.Dallas can tell you about any specifics. He is an expert baffle remover. He has done it at least twice.

When i drilled out my baffles on my old bike i removed both of them..If you dont like the sound so much with the baffles completley removed you can weld a 1/4 in socketor whatever fits in your pipe to adjust alittle backpressure and it changes the sound alittle. If you cant weld you can just drill two holes in the pipe and run chicken wire through the holes and socket to hold it in there. Hope that helps..Also, when i cut my baffles out i seemed to loose alittle speed..

Did you have a cat converter in the front pipe and what year and make was your bike?
