Default Vertical license plate

I've tried searching but come up anything good.

I don't see this as a piece worthy of spending serious cash on, it holds a license plate.

I want to know what ya'll did. I see several vertical curved ones that attach to the axle that I like. But I can only find them in 1". Ours is smaller correct?

I just want a small vertical mount, nothing special, I see several on ebay or amazon in the $20 to $30 range.

Ours are not free or cheap, but they also do not break, which is a big problem when relocating the license plate.

We have them in 1" for the axle and 1/2" for mounting off the lower shock mount bolt.

Also, remember, you should have a light on the plate for night time riding.

I use one of those cheap ebay ones. I think I paid $12 for it, its curved and mounts behind the axel nut. I have a 2008 xl1200R. Ive had it on there for over a year with no trouble yet.

Mine doesn't have a light though, it looks like DK's is a good option and a fair price.

Here's a write-up of how to fabricate a tag mount from a take-off belt guard:

Not curved but you can make the stock one go vertical very easily. I wouldn't want a fixed mount, I've actually found it quite useful to be able to fold it up..... for.... um... parking purposes.... yeah..

Vertical plates are illegal in some states. Better check with your DMV.

They're illegal in most, but I've never gotten a ticket in 30 years.

And what is that supposed to indicate?

That he will not get stopped and ticketed for a vertical plate. I've never even heard of it happening to anyone. If you're pulled over for driving like an *** it might get tacked on just for fun, but you will not be fined for that alone.
