Ohlins S36E bottom out?
I’ve been researching new shocks for my 2015 Forty Eight. I’m about 160lbs and usually ride solo 90% of the time. My wife does like to ride with me occasionally and two-up with gear is about 300lbs total. We’ve ridden a couple of times with the factory shocks and they do bottom out at times.
I’ve narrowed down my shock choice to either the 444 from Progressive or the S36E from Ohlins.
I’ve called Progressive and they pretty much told me I’d need the 444 in at least the 12” length or it’ll still bottom out when riding two-up. With the longer shock they also said it will raise the rear fender and change the look which is something I do not want to do (change the look).
I have not reached out to Ohlins yet but will this week.
My question for the forum is for anyone that has the Ohlins in the 11 3/8” length and whether they experience any bottoming out if riding two-up?
Thanks.
Mrs B and I have had them on our Glide for several years now and we have never bottomed out! In addition ride quality is so much better than any other shocks I have used. Howard offers HDF members a discount, so give him a call.
