Default Gas tank

So I got a gas tank on eBay. Bought it from Glendale Harley. It's an OEM part with few dents with this one being the biggest.

My question is.. Are second hand gas tanks structurally safe to put on and use out of the box? I've read some aftermarket part saying buyer should "pressure test" tanks.

What should I check before I start using this one? I thought since its OEM it's just bolt on and go.

I bought a used nightster tank with a significantly bigger dent than that one. I had the dent fixed and and the tank painted before I used it. That being said I have had no issues with it and I doubt you would have any issues.

Wasn't hard at all! Toughest part was draining the old gas. Didn't have anything to drain it in so used disposable aluminum pan then into gas can. Fuel pump gave me little trouble not not bad. No leaks or anything at the moment. I did add half bottle of Seafoam to clean it out a little

Pressure testing only applies to brand new aftermarket tanks, AFAIK. Yours comes from the best source, H-D, so only needs whatever attention and repainting you feel you want to do. I also bought a secondhand dented H-D tank and did exactly the same as Will.
