For everyone,
This winter i painted my 2005 883 sportster and put new bars, hand controls, pipes and an internal throttle on it, i just got it back together and can't get it to start. It is turning over but that's it, not even a sputter or cough. I'm not a mechanic, so i'm not sure what it may be. The carb is getting gas, the plugs are good and sparking and the fuses are good. When i wired up the hand controls i had a wire touching off the inside of the button housing and i blew about 6 fuses before i tracked it down. i've read that the ignition modules are virtually indistructable, could i have damaged the control modules, coil or one of the sensors while blowing the fuses? My harley dealership says thay can't test the module without bringing the bike in, that would be a little hard sinse it is in my shed and not starting. Does anyone have any ideas what the problem could be?
You might want to re-trace everything you did. Most likely, there is a cut wire somewhere, or one that got overlooked. Elect. problems suck !! They can take lots of time to find, and make you loose alot of hair too. If you can't find the caues, I hate to say it, but it might need to go to the dealer. unless you know a tech that will come out to your place and help.
