Anybody have or have seen a LED headlight bulb stream? wondering if they are better than HID? I currently have a PIAA Extreme White, its ok,i'd like to get further, stronger beam.
I have 2 headlights with the DK LED bulbs in them. They're great. I don't even need to use high beams at night if I don't feel like it. Internal fan makes a lot of noise but you can't hear them when riding.
High/low beam, 2500 lumens with a low amp draw of 0.8 amps vs stock 4.5 amps and an LED lifespan of 30,000 hours. Everything is contained in the bucket; no cutting of wires and no external ballast. The built-in heat management keeps the light bright and the bulb and headlight bucket cool.
I bought the BikeMaster H4 LED conversion replacement bulb P/N 266090. It went in fine, I did have to mount the control module on the frame with double sided tape but it is hidden & not noticeable at all. It's a whiter light than before & does a good job.
You can see the module & the connecter w/twist lock connection.
The bulb has a fan on the backside to cool it.

Like I said PIAA is almost as bright, but if you want to get technical LEDs mentioned have 6000 Kelvin Temp while PIAA has 4000 K which means LED are whiter. The LEDs mentioned also have 2000 and 2500 lumens, respectively. Not sure what PIAA has but I am sure it does not have the lumens of the LEDs....so LEDs are brighter too. Another benefit of LEDs is the lower voltage draw on the battery.
PIAAs are great bulbs if you want to stay with halogen. It is bright and white as compared to other halogen and it provides that more light with the same power draw.
I went with LEDs from PIAA because of the difference in power draw.
