Default Stretch tank + Danny Grey seat = WTF?

Howdy to all,

I currently have a Danny Gray flamed seat (mfg by Drag Specialties) that fits my 04 XLC (4.5 gal tank).

I just got my paint set in thatincludes a VTwin stretched tank. But when I laid out the seat and tank on the frame (these have not yet been attached to the bike) it seems as if the curviature of the front of the seat is too pronounced and does not fit over the tank like it should if I mount them together.

I think that If I couldpush the rear bracket on the tank down by 1/2 to 1" that it might sit "around" the front of the seat and work once installed but dont want to jack up my new paint on the tank. Or is that even a feasible idea to try and bend the tank mounting tab at the rear of the tank?

The other option I would have would be to take the seat to a good shop and have them try and modify the front of the seat and recover it. ($$$ involved) Ican take the stock seat to them and have them stitch the flames on it but would rather have the smaller seat for obvious reasons. I have not contacted a shop and inquired just yet.

I looked for tank brackets and the only thing I found that looked like it would work is something that would raise the rear of the tank but the problem there is that it would also raise the front of the seat when it is mounted to the raised tank.

Or maybe modify the tongue at the front of the seat to attach to the tank in some way.

Of course the other concern is to make sure I dont have a massive gap in between the two once its finished. I have tried to find a manufactured part thatdresses or coversthis space and have yet to find anything.

Anyone have this kind of experience? And what did you do? I dont want to replace the seat but it may be an Ebay victim if I cant get this figured out.

Any help would be appreciated.
