Default A bit dishonest, but Informative

Since we get a lot of questions here about various modifications versus another. Like which seat is the best, which exhaust is the best, etc etc. And since most of us can only really compare the stock setup versus which ever modification we made and can't really give a comparason, I've come up with an idea.

I started looking around for Sportsters listed for sale within about 100 miles. I then call an ask about the bike, tell them I have a Sportster, and I'm looking to buy another one either for my wife, or for me, and give mine to the wife. This is TOTALLY false.

Anyway, then if the bike for sale has a seat I'd like to try, or an exhaust thatI haven't heard, those type of things, I go check outthebike. Maybe I can get some good points of reference for comparing different options. So far, I've tried out a mustang solo seat this way.

Well, it was a short ride. The mustage was plenty comfortable in the seat area, but didnt seem to provide as much lower back support. I've had lower back issues for a good while, so for me, I think I prefer the Sundowner.

Watch out though, you just might ride one that you like better than yours and that's gonna cost you money!

Same here. The Sundowner is a whole lot better than the stock two-by-four seat, but the combination of forward pegs and low, forward bars makes going any distance darned uncomfortable. Hence I've just changed it out for the 6-inch apes; slightly wider, a little more pullback and tall enough but not so tall as to be hanging from them. Sitting up straight sure makes the ride more pleasant and my back appreciates them.

I make sure to find a time that is TOTALLY convient to them, besides, I might just sell their bike for them. I did think about this beforehand. I sold a Sporty for a guy a couple of months ago, not one that I took this approach with. It's like selling real estate, the more people that are interested in the product you have to sell, the more likely you are to sell the product. What if Wal-mart, or any other retailer only allowed people that were ACTUALLY going to buy something to enter their store????!!!!!!!!!! I guess that parking wouldn't be an issue for that retailer.

Besides, I didn't waste hours of his time, it was about a 5 minutes phone conversation. He said he would be home all day. I rode over, total time from the time I arrived until I got back on my bike and left was less that 45 minutes. Probably less than half an hour.
