I have 30 tooth pulley right now. Great for interstate cruising 75+.
But ... after I dropped in those cams and had the headwork done I'd like 28 for local driving. With increased RPM my bike runs over 120 on fourth, it effectively leaves me with four gears, all of them too fast.
I searched net and there are custom pulleys for sale, $350 each. Right now I do not feel like I want to pay that price.
So if you have a 27 or 28 front pulley for 2004 up Sportster you do not need ... just drop me a PM.
Thanks for reading.
Stock gearing on a 1200 will get you 120 mph at 7000 rpm. Not saying it can't be done, but it is wound pretty tight. Was the 30 tooth the original pulley?
No, I installed it before I did cams and head, I really like it when traveling. 30 is stock for Europe, mine is US spec. (My bike runs over 7000 RPM on fourth, I put the redline on 7200.)
