Hi everyone, I have 2007 Sportster 1200 custom with the security system sitting in my garage. My bike hasn't been used in a while, and the battery is now completely dead (unfortunately I don't have access to any power in there to keep the battery alive).
The last time I changed the battery, I first disarmed the security system by turning the ignition key (powering the bike), then pulled out the main fuse. I then replaced the battery and put the fuse back, and the security system didn't complain since it had been disarmed.
Right now, the battery died while the system was armed. And by dead, I mean turning the key doesn't do anything at all (nothing powers).
So, my question is, in what state is the security system? If I change the battery now, what will happen when I put the main fuse back in, will the alarm go off because it will wake up and think it's armed?
2007 year has a buttonless alarm FOB, as long as the FOB is with the bike when it i powered up it should sense it right away and disarm the alarm. Just make sure you have a good battery in your alarm FOB and it will be transmitting when you power that puppy up.
