If you play your cards rights you can tell your wife that everybody is staring at the mark and that you will have to get a new Nightster. And that you can not get anything for it on trade with the mark on the exhaust. Then you tell her about the recall Harley has on the Nightster that states the motorcycle will develop a severe vibration if riden with passenger pegs and 2up seating. Which could result in loss of control of the motorcycle and possible death. I just hope my wife does not call Harley to find out if it is true or not. Long live the Nightster..
There is a product called The Eraser. Goes in yer Drill Motor to clean up stuff like this.
Hey ******, have you tried that Eraser? I've seen it and wondered how well it would actually work.
Oh..and the original thread. I've used Easy Off Oven cleaner with success for these type of thing. Just go on a nice bike ride, get the pipes hot. Spray on the oven cleaner. Open a nice cold beer, drink the beer, and wipe off with a COTTON shop towel.
Oh...and of course...repeat the beer process until long after the pipes cool off, or the spot on the pipes will return.
Do not use Easy Off Oven Cleaner. If you get it on anything and I mean anything other than the heat shield it will turn what ever it touches a milky white. The best thing you can use is either a little Carb cleaner sprayed onto a cloth, may take a couple of tries, A product called Goo Gone, Rahlows eraser, Magic eraser, etc.
Can't tell you how many bikes I have seen with Easy Off spots on the powder Coat on the engine and read all the calls for help when they screw it up with Easy Off.
I've taken off about 5 black soled rubber marks with the Mr. Clean Magic Eraser..........works like a charm.
I'm going to try this. I have a heal mark on my pipe from a daughter setting her 3 year old on the seat and the kid puttin herheel on the pipe while sitting there. I've used this product on my car (2005 Outback) and it removes tar and stuff without scratching the paint... works GREAT.
ok, so I tell my wife, be careful the pipes get hot... well, she set the heal of her shoe on the pipes. Anyone one got tips on removing this? I should have just kept it solo.[:@]
Mr Clean Magic Sopnge on a cool pipe. Cleans the goop off and does not harm the chrome.
