2nd owner does't sound too bad to me for a sportster. If you test drive it and look it over real good (no oil under frame) and check the plugs for normalcy I would go for the 2014. Nice to have features like security, tack speedo but the key feature I think is worth the $500 is the ABS breaks. The V&H's is nice if you like loud pipes(some allow quiet baffles fitment). I have a 2013C and bought it with V&H slashed slip-ons which I took off due to them being way too loud for me. I'm running with stock pipe for a time but plan on trying the quiet baffles on the V&H soon.
Good luck.
alot of riders are going the other way, controls from Harley are probably $400, but you can likely get a set of used OEM mids from a take-off for less than half that.
Thanks all for your responses, I finally made my mind and bought 2013 XL 1200C with 290 Miles on it and Vances & Hines Pipes and he gave me the original piples as well.
Now i am looking for Mid Controls and Keyless security to add on, not sure if keyless is worth investment.
Just a suggestion before you pull the forward controls take it for a couple good rides. I know everybody has different comfort zones but I've got a XL 1200 C with the forwards and really would like them ahead another couple inchs. I'm only 5 ft 9 with a 30 inseam.
