Default Need help

I ride a 1989 sportster 1200.. The other day the bike started to buck then stalled. Starts up and idles fine.. Put into gear and start to roll... It stalls. New to the Harley world and was told may be a fuel/carberator issue. Turned the fuel off and drained the carb.. Metal shavings in the fuel. Do I have a major issue ? Thankyou for any info.

Well... Thats a new one.. Pull the tank, drain it, replace any fuel filters in the line/tank. Pull the carb and do a full cleaning on it.. Guessing a shaving plugged a jet in the carb and that is your issue. I got nothing on the metal shavings, maybe a metal fuel filter has disintegrated??

It could be the coating from inside the tank. Drain the tank, remove the fuel valve and clean the screen on the valve assembly. If it's the coating, it will happen again, and again until you seal it.
