As far as I know, 1991-2003 are the same, 04-05 takes the same part number, 06 takes another part number. I remember seeing this on ebay, 04-07 have the same forward control.

I found 2 on ebay, you can always buy it anywhere you like. I bought mine from Harley, it is expensive but I didn't have patient to wait when I got my bike, want it right away. Sure you can find after market lot cheaper.

How many miles do you have? Take it easy until the break-in is completed.

I'm pretty certain you can go with the 04+ controls. I love mine and would have a hard time dealing with mid controls. I have a solo seat on mine but wouldn't part with my passenger pegs since on longer trips I like to pop em out and change my foot position occasionally..that really helps give you a break when you're stretched out withforward controlsall the time.

A related question:
I have a 883L, and a friend of mine has 1200C. He wants my mid-controls, I want his forwards. Could the exchange be done?
