Default Forward controls question

I was looking for a set of forward controls for my 2011 nightster. Someone offered me a set of 2006 for 275$. He claims they are in mint condition. Is this a good deal and is there anything i should be worried about or look for?

Thanks

Jp

its not uncommon for forward controls to come up in the "For Sale" section in the $150-200 range. Are they aftermarket higher end like Drag Specialties?

New OEM brand new kits can be bought for the $330 range, so your saving a little cash. I dont know if its a "GOOD" deal, but if its exactly what your looking for, your not getting taken to the cleaners...

they are harley oem. Not that I insist on getting oem but everything I've read says they are superior to the aftermarket stuff. didnt know you could get them on sale for so cheap thought. So far the only price i had seen was around 425 like that first link.

Canadian dollars? Maybe that has something to do with the price difference you're hearing about. $200 US seems like a good deal. $275 US, is getting pricey. Getting a set off the Forum's Classifieds and getting them shipped to Canada might be slightly challenging. I couldn't say. Some people are more accommodating than others. Have you verified all the components are included? Are they bare Aluminum, or black? Pics?

The shipping if not included will probably break the deal.

Just a side note, I bought a set from a newish 48 for my '06 and the rod that connects to the rear master cylinder wasn't the same. The newer one looked like it used a pin to connect to the rear while mine (not sure how to describe it) was a different setup.

My '06 uses a rod end joint on the rear brake pedal rod... Got curious and did some research.

I just recently installed a set of forward controls on my 2011 Nightster that came off a 72, and had to grind down the clevis to get my factory pegs to work. Everything else fit flawlessly. Only paid $150 for them locally.

The deal was for 250$ US (bartered a bit) and no shipping required as I was picking it up right there. Didn't go through as the guy had told me they were black and they turned out to be chrome.

Ill keep a good lookout on the forums classifieds, hopefully someone is willing to ship here to canada.

I'm surprised to hear that the 2006 aren't interchangeable has according to the Harley Website they should fit my bike. If the 48 was a 2014 or above then they wouldn't fit so that might be it.

Any how, if someone has a set of black forwards for sale let me know hopefully we can work something out hahaha. Glad I didn't go through with the deal as it didn't seems that great now lol
