Default weird tire thing

twice i have gotten ready to ride only to find that my front tire is nearly flat. i always do a post ride check when i clean the bike. i check the tires before every ride. the first time i was able to ride to the station and air it up. i checked it all that day and it was fine. well, i did alot of rain riding since friday if it matters, and it happened againyesterday morning. it was totally flat. i have a tank now and aired it up and took a 75 mile ride.checked it againthis am and it was fine. rode about 75 miles again and still o k. i have a bell and this kind of stuff should not be happening. any ideas??

check your stem and valve for a slow leak. use a little detergent in some water to see if it will blow a bubble.

Check the valve in the tube - they sometimes leak; it's easy to replace. Squirt a bit ofvery soapy water in the valve and see if you get bubbles. Also, you might have a pinched tube if you were riding on it when it was really low - but I really think it's your valve. Do you have a cap over the valve?

You have a laced wheel w/tube, correct? I can't think of anything beside checking the valve stem area, if the tube leaks, it usually leaks very fast.

I replaced the cheap plastic caps that came with the bike with nice metal chrome caps with a rubber washer inside, that way if the valve does weep a bit of air I have a back up.
