I just saw this on a local shops facebook page and almost puked. The customer had too much compression and was blowing head gaskets. The EPA is a criminal organization...Vent to atmosphere my friends!
Blowing head gaskets, that's pretty extreme...but it is VERY common for folks to continually retune their bike...because as the compression increases, what use to be a good tune, no longer is for the increased compression.
See a ton of info, photo's and dyno charts on the subject HERE.
so I just tested the compression on my bike, both cylinders read ~180psi.
Would this be considered normal or high? Also, and this is a long shot, but could that mean I have a different set of pistons or heads on it thats making more compression?

180 is normal. Oftentimes rubbermount 1200's will have CCP 200+ in stock form.

I already have a horseshoe breather custom powdered black from NHRS.
(plus as I noted in that thread, i dont think thats well sealed for an air intake system... :/ )

It's a moot point for you because you already went a different route, but hoses passing through the AC backplate can be made to seal very well by drilling the hole smaller than the Outside Diameter of the hose, then after putting some lube on the hose, working it through the hole creating a form fitting seal
