Default Antitheft not disengaging. Battery tender. Starting issues

So for some reason when my bike has been on the battery tender for awhile the remotes will not disengage the alarm system. The bike is a 2012 Iron.

I have 2 remotes and one appears to be totally obsolete now. I've never had a problem one during the spring and summer. This winter I've been using the factory installed battery tender. I decided to start the bike after a warm day. Unplugged the tender and antitheft just kept flashing while I tried to start it.

I got new batteries for both remotes and one decided to work. Cool. After riding and reinstalling the tender I tried again in a couple weeks. Same crap. The remote that was working I was able to remove and replace the battery real fast (read to do that somewhere) and it finally worked again.

It's been a few weeks and same crap again. Now both remotes do not work. I may have to haul it to Harley I guess. Is there some kind of sleep mode it goes into? I've read something about resetting them using the odometer but not sure how that works. Anyone has these issues? Thanks

i guess you dont know your pin, which is bad. Once you get the bike started, or at least the system to disable, reset your pin to something you will remember. Then practice pin disabling/starting your bike. This will help when something bad happens like you loose your fob while out or it dies on the road.

Take a look at your antenna. Make sure it hasn't gotten looose or that the contacts are clean. The fobs may be beat. No big deal you can get a new set for around 25 bucks and the dealer will usually program them for free.

Thanks for the response. The bike was bought used and went through a few hands and unfortunately never knew about it until now

Also, what is the correct way of using the pin? Is there a factory pin to try?

It could be anything.... try all 1's, 0's or the last 5 of the VIN.

https://www.hdforums.com/forum/dyna-...oth-fob-s.html

if owners were lazy, the pin is the last 5 digits if the vin (subbing any "0" for a "1")

Get a new battery for the FOB from a reliable high volume source. Make sure you bike battery is OK by removing ir and have it load tested. Then replace it. Then you will be sure the connections are good.
