Default Re-engineering a stock seat.

Does anyone have any recomendations for reworking a stock seat for comfort? I really want to perserve the lines of the Nightster but that stock solo is not getting the job done.

Pros? Cons?

Is my money better suited getting a slightly different design for back support?

Just trying to get some advice from y'all before dropping the coin. Thanks.

IMHO, and I have reworked the Factory and a Pillow Top Touring seat, nothing you do for comfort, is going to maintain the "look". Sometimes Function must come before Form!

True, guess I am trying to find the best of both worlds if that is possible.

I pick Brawler solo seat simply because it looks and feels good, 2-3 hrs riding, no problem(my weight 165). best of both worlds imo.
Take a look at this, Brawler solo on a Nightster.

The Brawler looks like your stock seat but it has a lot more foam in it, more comfortable, I do like the little lift on the back, you won't slide back even you take off fast. I have seen a Nightster at a dealer last week, the stock seat looks so thin. You can also take a look at the Corbin hollywood solo, looks as good but $400 though.

I've reworked my original solo seat several times to try and find some comfort while riding. I finally gave up and bought a mustang. I liked its(original seat) looks a lot but, just couldn't dial it in. I'm finally happy with the mustang. It's not hard to re-work it. Just remove the staples, pull back the cover and re-work or add to it. Put the cover back on. staple it, you're good to go. The problem is, whats comfortable appearing at first does not always stay that way after awhile. If you can do it, you will be tons of money ahead. It's worth the try in my opinion. If you are successful, you're in.

Heres what i done, I wish I had a camera to show you but I dont, so will just have to explain and let you ask questions. I have a 06 1200C with a 2 up factory seat. I took the seat and cut off the back 8 inches, reattached fender tab, rounded the back corners from where I cut it off.The foam I got from the 8 inches, ilifted the remaining foam and stuffed the 8 inches down, to create more of a lumbarsupport and a area to keep from sliding back. Now to make it more comfy, I added a full inch of quality foam to the whole seat. I chose to have it reupholstered, but you could easily reattach existing material. I have road it several huindred miles since, no complains from me. I do get lots of questions as to who makes it, i simply say ME> Now the best part of this is the cost. 75.00 for a car upholstery place to do it
