Default 2006 Stalls/Dies at Red Lights/Stop Signs

Title says it all. I've looked all over Google and haven't really found a consistent answer, and many of them don't directly address my bike.

More detail: 2006 Sporty 883, Python mufflers and a SE air cooler kit. Otherwise it's stock.

Issue: Bike starts up great with initial choke, then after maybe 5-10 seconds I release the choke and go on my way. As long as it's running without having to stop, she has no problems (although the longest I've had it running was maybe 45 minutes). The issue at hand is 90% of the time I'm riding in the city, dealing with stop lights and signs. Once I come to a stop the idle dies down, may become choppy and usually stalls. If it doesn't stall it coughs and usually backfires and 50/50 chance it either stalls or continues on it's way. If I give it just a little throttle until the light turns green it goes on it's way just fine. Additionally, as the motor heats up the issue gets worse- basically becoming a guarantee to stall at any light after 10+mins. Lastly, if it does die it always starts right back up once I hit the ignition button.

I want to say the problem started when I switched the mufflers last year. I tried switching the stage 1 AC last week thinking maybe it would balance things out (I didn't change my carb around at all after switching the mufflers), but it only introduced the backfiring issue.

I've checked my sparkplugs and they're not fouled in any way. I checked my crankshaft position sensor and it looks like new. I've cleaned my carb in the past 6 months. This winter I hadn't rode it, but I did take the tank nearly to empty and put in the recommended amount of Sta-Bil. It has since had almost a full tank of fresh gas run through it. The engine light comes on as it's starting up (if I remember correctly as I write this) but it definitely goes away (otherwise I wouldn't ride it). As such, I haven't bothered to run a OBD check.

I'm sure I'm forgetting something, but for now that's all I can think of. Thanks-in-advance guys!

Sounds like you need to clean and rejet your carb as well as adjust your idle adjustment screw.

If you're right about it being stock except for breather and exhaust, you need to rejet your carb. You can do 1 of 3 without making changes, but 2 of 3 requires the third.

*Sigh* that's good and bad news I suppose.

So I guess my next question is how to proceed. I've pulled the carb apart before and decided that I wasn't smart enough to adjust the jets myself. I've seen Rejet Kit's ranging from $21-$145, and theres always taking it into the dealership which $$$ I'm not a fan of.

Any recommendations?

If you don't want to do it yourself you can save money by taking the carb off and take it to an indy shop & have them rebuild it for you.
I would buy a rebuild kit and new jets and a service manual, then watch a few videos on youtube and follow the instructions and go at it one step at a time and take a picture of each step as you go and you should be fine, plus then you'll know the procedure for changing the jets so you can change them again if you want.
