Default Rainy Ride

I rode my 2015 883 Iron in the rain today. First time ever riding in the rain as i've been avoiding it. I thought i was avoiding it today, but about 10 min into my 30 min ride to work it started raining. Turns out it's not that bad! It was quite fun actually. I took it easy on the turns, and went a little slower than usual and i was fine. Also, as it turns out, rain kind of hurts when it hits you at speed! So i learned something there. Oh, and i'll need at least a pair of rain pants as i was pretty wet when i got to work.

Just thought i'd share.

I hate rain... Riding in it has made me dislike weathermen.

As long as you're not crazy, riding in it can be fine. But, I can't say as I've ever found it pleasurable. One of the parts that bugs me the most is when it gets chilly and you start getting stiff...

But, hey, glad you had fun with it! LOL

Default Rain or shine either is fine

I know this will provoke some comments but riding in the rain is part of motorcycling. You need to be comfortable in all aspects of riding. Fair weather, rain, interstates, back roads, twisties, straight roads, traffic, etc...
I have been riding for 47 years and I Tour on my bikes. When I travel I ride 400 to 600 miles per day depending on the circumstances. When my wife and I went to Sturgis, we averaged 550 miles per day with the longest day of 635. We rode through two lines of thunderstorms where we had to slow down to 40 mph on the interstate due to visibility You must be comfortable doing this to travel safely. That is not to say that dry weather is not better than wet. A Harley with stock tires handles the same in dry wx as it does in rain. I do not change riding style in the rain. I am more concerned about being seen by the cages than I am by the way my bike handles in the rain.
As far as rain hurting you at speed, you bet it does. At 70 mph it takes about 15 min before you numb up, that is why I either use a shield on my 3/4 helmet or a bandana on my 1/2.
One day I had neither and the rain seemed to hurt more than usual at 45 mph
When our group came to a red light, one of the riders next to me told me my face was bleeding. I looked down at my seat and noticed real small pieces of hail accumulating. Now that was an uncomfortable ride
