But of all the bikes I know, only the sportster comes with a deadly spring plate.

KLR's factory doo-hickey is/can be a bomb just waiting to go off, too.

My 2017 Iron is sock except for the replacement of the a/c with a stage one selection from DK.

I feel that the bike runs and rides very, very well. 90+% of my riding is two lane country/hills with speed limits of 35 to 55. Very little traffic and rural road surfaces. With 50 yrs of riding and owning about 30 bikes of British, German, Japanese, and US manufacture, over the years, I'm very pleased with the Iron. It is a solid bike, enhanced by rubber mounting and EFI.

Klrs are sweet bikes. I know a old timer with a bone stock 84 sportster 1000. Last year of the ironhead, well ok it has a s&s carb. Still a beautiful bike.

To a point I am a purist with my 1200N.

Yet I really like the OEM baloney cut pipes and the tone....
I like the ham can filter....

But I would consider Xieds or a tune to equalize the air/ fuel ratio and a DK oil blowby breather/ catch can. 1/4 turn throttle might be considered also.

Yet, some appearance stuff I have added, so again purist to a point.

Now if we had a stock 1977 Yamaha RD400 would I be a purist?
That's the next question to ponder.

Mine is stock but I have only had it just over two weeks. My son has changed his seat and added rear foot pegs.

Its funny, the closest I ever came to bone stock was swapping out the grips and mirrors. I absolutely hate HD stock grips and I just dont like the stock mirrors.. My xl1200c that was all I did..
