You can definitely fix up your sporty for longer distance riding...mine is set up with this 1250 upgrade, along with setting up the Comfort Triangle for LD riding.

I have no lack of power, and am comfortable for all day riding.

However, having a second bike is always nice!

I have a Softail for two-up riding, or when I need to carry a bunch of stuff, or when I just want to have a more relaxed, less Sporty, putt.

Thanks for the feedback guys!

I do really like my bike and enjoy it for shorter rides, and wouldn't want to change away from the direction i am going with it to make it more comfortable... fashion before function as the saying goes... oh wait, thats backwards.

I am going to cruise by a few of the dealerships and test out a bunch of different bikes and see what I like for longer rides and either pick up a used second bike or bite the bullet on a new one.

So now I can do some things I really have been wanting to on this one. Have some struts kicking around that a seller threw in on a seat purchase and will see how it is ... if I am going to be uncomfortable anyway, maybe as well look sick and do a hard tail conversion

Just some random thoughts

Be careful on choosing that second bike. The softtail slim is a sweet bike but, depending on the group, doesn't have enough cornering clearance. I agree with what was said earlier a street bob or low rider would be nice, don't discount a used glide either. For me if new maybe an option look at the low rider S. 110 motor and cruise control with nice suspension would serve you well, add some wind protection and hang with the best of them.
