more than a few guys the xlforum dumped mega dough into sportsters... worth it to all of us, no.... to them, yeah. still harleys http://xlforum.net/vbportal/forums/s....php?t=1976997
i wanna say i wouldn't do that but, i also said 'd never dig in my engines. might get bored again... i would feel better putting that $ in the dyna, and not the sporty though.
long windedness..............
to be fair, Madnss isn't normally riding the 9 second drag sporty through traffic so there's no reason to mention it here. that's not the DD for lane splitting, lol. bragging about a 90hp sporty that makes all its power above 5k is irrelevant as well. at normal revs, you are at normal output for a 1200. nice to know it's there though. that's kinda what that guy got all pissed about his stge 4 48 the power is all up top, he wanted it down low. what he need was a different bike. he wasted thousands trying to turn a sporty into what it isn't.... he may have gotten used to it but, he kinda dipped out. nobody knows:

it's just a fun bike. dropping down to 883 gearing will keep things lively in normal traffic conditions.
big twins are cool but, to tell the truth, i hate riding mine in traffic/city... it's heavy, hot AF, and clumsy. sporty is nimble and small. on open road, totally different story. big twin all day long.

Speed cost money, how fast can you afford to go? ? ?
You can make a Sporster really fast, as in for racing only, but not if you ride it on the street.
Big bore kit, high compression pistons, lots of head work, aftermarket cams, roller rocker arms.
Change the gearing, add some transmission work to reduce friction, all in the name of speed.
All that stuff cost money, it will be fast, if you are going to ride on the street, do a Stage-3.

Bike has a stage one. I find myself WOTing more than i expected i would do. I need more power.
I dont want a vrod for sure. Dont think i want a bigger bike either. I ride mostly in the city and i can run through traffic with ease.
so what are my options? Isnt it silly to bore a 1200 cc just to add 75 cc? should i do it with cams and i dont know what else?
wait till hd buy duc and get a harley xdiavel?

Well, kinda... all I could gather was that OP wants to be able to zoom around from stoplight to stoplight. So, he's not after top speed; which led me to believe a simple sprocket change from the one on his 1200 to one from an 883 will fix his "problem."
