93 is the highest I've seen around here andI try to always get it from Shell. I haven't seen a Sunoco station in ages.
Edit: I feel like a fool. I just looked on Sunoco's site and there are2 stations within 10 miles of me. I need to get out and pay attention more obviously. I'm gonna check them out tomorrow and see if they have 94. I am getting a little pinging still since the conversion.
My Sportsters must be defective- they are both relatively stock 883s- one a 2006 and one a 2007 and they both get close to 60mpg no matter how they are ridden. I usually go about 125 miles on the 07 and put about 2 to 2.1 gallons in it to top it back off. The 06 is just about the same but since it is a custom it holds more fuel. It will go well over 200 miles without even needing to hit reserve.
My 2005 1200C was getting right at 50 MPG, and that was with upgraded Screamin' Eagle "E" cams that had a higher lift and flowed more fuel.
But where I live there is no city or 'stop and go' traffic, and 99% of my riding is steady cruising at 60 to 70 MPH.
And also, just to be fair, I'll mention that my Softail FatBoy is averaging right at 48 MPG, under identical riding conditions. It's had the intake and exhaust flow increased, has a Screamin' Eagle Race Tuner installed, and has also been dyno-tuned.
I also ride them like the cruiser's they are, and don't pretend they are race bikes.
I average around low 40's, usually fill up at about 135miles-use Shell 93Oct-and fill it up all the way just a little over the fill neck. Mostly city driving start-stop. Just did the stage I and plan to run it out on the country roads on a nice long trip to get a better calculation. But I think the city driving is keeping the mpg low?
Wouldn't you know it. I get around a steady 50 mpg/per tank. Now the reason I say this is because I only use regular 87 octane in my 883. What, with all this fuel economy, and the high price of gas, I should be saving even more money than you who use all that high octane stuff. Oh well. [8D]
