A lot of people change that bearing for an angular thrust bearing, which takes the load of pulling out the adjustment rod much better than stock. I think the bearing is a 7200B, but others can correct me if I'm wrong. If you bought this bearing to replace the stock one, it must be installed correctly so bearing surface is oriented correctly to take the load.
You're correct John. I just bought a NSK 7200BW (the W makes it higher spec according to dealer) for $25. Another place further away had exactly same bearing and maker for same price so no way would I ever get the stock one from HD. I went there yesterday and they wanted 80 freaking unbelievable dollars for an inferior bearing. No wonder HD is suffering with prices like this. Ronnie's online price was still high at $60. NSK is a very respectable Japanese bearing maker so I feel confident with this bearing and the savings'll get me a couple o six packs. I'll take your advice and make sure I mount it the correct way thanks, Chris
Where did you find the NSK 7200BW bearing in the United States, only place I can find one is in the UK or other overseas vendor(s). They want as much for shipping as the bearing costs itself.
I can get one thru work from Kaman but it's more than twice the price. Motion Industries doen't handle them either.
