my up shifts depend on my driving style, if I have my wife and our camping gear/road trip ill upshift around 3500, if I'm by myself ill shift around 3200 and lever 5th gear before 60-ish.
I try to keep the RPM above 2800 unless im in 1st or 2nd.
Recently when we went across America, there were times where the bike was at 4200rpm (5th gear) for 14 hours....getting across Kansas. Or where I had to really wind out 3rd or 4th gear going up Donner Pass or some of the hills in Colorado.

With the M8 engines cruising @ 2100 RPM in city driving is perfect. It isn't lugging, even under load. Downshift as needed. 45 MPH @ 2100 RPM all day long.
