i bought a 07 883 custom monday. its only got 56 miles on it so far and ive noticed a noise. it almost sounds like the speedo cable. just wondering if i need to have this looked at or is it kinda normal
Sportys make noise and most are nothing to be concerned with. Your speedo is not cable driven like the old ones but are electric driven with a sensor so thats not likely the noise. If it concnerns you just drop by your dealer or call them. You willget used to the shifting and clunk noises along with the infamous sewing machine sound they make with time.
I get a cable noise and reckon it's one of the front brake braided cable hose vibrating on the front wheel fender.....what to do?.....just slacken the banjo bolt at the calliper and re-route(might leak a bit of oil,but not let any air in)....or spoil the looks and put some rubber on where it meets the fender?
i didn't literally mean the speedo cable(i have read my owners manual) it was just the best way i could describe it. anyways the bike seems to run just fine so i guess ill just get used to. must be new owner worries[sm=smiley20.gif]
I would try and track it down, cos those type of noises get on my nerves (and you never know it might be important)....the noise i had,at first i thought it was the electrics cover which was loose,so made some rubber washers to tighten the cover up....the noise was still there.....think it's the brake hose on the fender...so will cure that!
it couldnt be that my front brake hose does'nt even come close to the front fender. and now that i listen to itit sounds more likely to be that "sewing machine " noise that capttawes mentioned. its probably been there the whole time i was just to busy listening to my se pipes to here it
