Default Handlebars are too far

I go a new 883 Iron and the bars are uncomfortably far away for me
What can I do without spending a ton of money?

Your bars are held in clamps. You can slacken the fasteners, which releases your bars and allows you to rotate them towards (or away) from you. Try that first - costs no more than a little time. Alternatively visit your dealer, they should adjust them for free on a new bike IMHO.

I have joked for years that whoever installs Harley bars on the production line is a gorilla. Most H-Ds I have ever sat on, for many years, have the bars set too far away for my comfort, so you're not alone.

^ yup. loosen em up, and adjust to fit you. remember to
adjust the blinkers down a bit, depending on how far
you pull the bars back.

Thanks, that's a little better
It was a pain in the butt to get the flipped mirrors into position without hitting the tank at full lock

Good suggestion. My son is 6'3" and could benefit from riser extensions on his 883.

Handlebar risers, as mentioned, are always an option.

Here is a LINK to our risers.

If rotating the handlebar down isnt 'enough', you can also install
'pullback' risers. You will need a minimum of 4.5" rise w/1.5" of
pullback to clear the tank. If you have a tank 'lift', then you
would have to compensate for that distance as well on the rise.
Also, if you use pullback risers, you'll have to switch the
integrated clamp/guage holder to the old-style clamp / separate
gauge mount or the guage will look stupid (IMHO) sticking straight up.

Here's a few old pics of 4.5" pullbacks on my wife's Iron.

good luck & hope this helps,

T.
