Default lighting/electrical question - rear

I'm not by my scoot or I'd do some tests to figure this out. Hoping someone can help.

2012 Nightster with the factory 3 wire (RBT) side mounted tail lamps (no dedicated brake light in middle of fender).

Which wire does the brake signal go through? The signal or running light wire? I have a feeling the signal...

Thanks!

Brake and signal are the same wire.

Under the seat, there is a 6 pin connector that isolates all of the lights. There is a brake signal on that harness. You won't be able to get just a brake signal at the back of the bike. When I converted over to LEDs, I tapped in to the wires after the RBT converter and it would cause hyperflash issues when I hit the brake with the turn signal on. I didn't realize the Nightster/48/72 still had an RBT module. I chased that issue for a few weeks.

Thanks. I'm installing a dual color (red/amber) light set up so I have a 4th wire. So I guess I have to splice the brake light wire from the light to somewhere in front of the converter. Fun!
