So, ive installed a Hammer 1250 basic kit, any recommendations on upping the power a bit more? Maybe the 80hp package they sell? Would putting stock 1200 heads do anything for performance over 883 heads?

crush cams and headwork.... Dan and Aaron love you and want to help
You have fallen into the trap of I got more power now I'm greedy. The pistons you have are 30 degree but not reverse dome. They are designed to work with the stock 883 heads. Putting on 1200 heads I think will lower your compression. To go up in power will require head work and new pistons, the 30 degree reverse dome pistons. Hammer head work is always matched to the pistons in the kit. And as you go up the power chain different cams are required and sometimes roller rockers. They have 80, 90, 100, 110. and 120 kits. decide what you want and do it one time. All the components of these kits are designed to work together. You cant piece mill it. Sorry. Ask me how I know. LOL. I got a set of pistons and jugs just like you have on your bike sitting in my garage gathering dust. and a set of 90 HP heads setting with them.

Ha, well thank you for the honesty. I think ill stick with what i have and be happy.
I will say the smoothest running engine I ever had was with the Hammer basic kit. To me its not a money thing. Its recreation and what pleasure I get from it. I'm an old hot rodder and just like building engines for more power. I am stopping where I am at for now at 110 HP. I'm old and have Rheumatoid Arthritis so I don't know how much longer I will be able to ride or I would be going all out with the BFHs for 132 hp. I have done some Hammer kits for others but that's got to stop as well. Fun cost money, how much do you want to have or speed coast money, how fast do you want to go.

I did the Hammer 1250 kit and it is great. My compression ratio is definitely higher and they recommend premium fuel. I can tell by how much harder the battery and starter work to turn it over. This is with the stock 883 heads. It runs so good, I don't want to mess with anything !
