Hello,
Need some help trying to find this part. This wiring harness goes to the fender tail light kit that I bought for my 2011 Sportster 48. My wiring harness was damaged and my local HD shop said they cant sell that part separately. Im REALLY trying to avoid spending another $95 just to get another harness. Anyone have any ideas on where to get another? Would greatly appreciate the help. Thanks
I damaged my brake light/turn signal module. I ended up ordering the plastic connectors from HD, and rebuilt it myself. Fairly easy... The plastic connector housings were under a dollar, if I remember correctly. You can also get the pin connectors online from many different retailers. eBay has them as well..
The harness part number that you're looking for is 73420-11, which your dealer is correct that it is not avail separately. I have a harness that would get you half way there if you're just looking not to tap in to your factory wiring, otherwise you could just hard wire the light in.
I have harness 70036-10 that came with my chrome license plate kit. I never needed it because my bike had the side mount license plate from the factory so the new one plugged in to existing wiring. You would need to still hard wire your wires to this harness.

"You would need to still hard wire your wires to this harness."
What would this consist of?
You're right, I am trying to avoid tapping into my electrical system.
Thank you
Currently the 3-pin plug that comes off of the harness for your brake light has the following wires:
- Ground
- Running Light
- Brake Light
The harness I have for the license plate has the following going to the 2-pin plug:
- Ground
- Running Light
So you have two wires identified, but you would have to cut the brake light wire on the harness and tap in to that to make your light work. It would prevent you from tapping in to factory wiring, but there would still be tapping required.
