Well good luck to ya. My bike started acting flakey just today. Speedo dropped to zero then climbed back up, kill switch does not always work...
Sometimes the VSS, (Speed Sensor) gets little metal filings on it. If it happens again, drain the tranny fluid and change it, then take the Sensor out and clean it off, sometimes that works. It has for others. The sensor on later model Sporties is on top of the tranny between the rear jug and the Oil tank, behind the hoses, one bolt holds it in place.
No chance that your signal relocation has frayed a wire or connection that is ever so slightly grounding out causing your ghost in the machine?
You have done quite a bit of work to your bike. I would back trace all of those connections just to make sure you haven't missed something or something has worked it's way loose.
Just a thought in case you haven't already. Good luck.

Hey glad ya noticed the Mods. The first thing I did when I got home from the Dealer was bypass the turn signal module that converts to run/turn/brake, then I traced the wires for the relocated lights, I never suspected them of being the problem, but you never know. Thanks for the suggestion, that is one of many reasons I posted my problem here. To get suggestions/solutions from my Bro's! As a matter of fact cHarleys post about the path of the signals, and the process of the signal thru the ICM to other points, has caused me to focus on wiring from the VSS to the ICM. We shall se, we shall see
Your pistons are .......... going up and down, check.
Ride the thing until fall and then work on it.
yea I hear ya, think I might just take that advice! Priced a new Speedo today, just for reference purposes $271.00 + Tax!!!! Ouch! Ordered the Electrical Manual, $60.00 dang HD!
Since it is an ac signal make sure the wires are twisted together to avoid EMI.Follow them the entire way from the VSSto the module.I think that is where they are converted to digital.Being on a data buss it almost has to be that way.

Ok, about the only place where the twist is not there is at each plug, makes checking them a beotch cause they were/are twisted right up to the plugs/connectors.
I swear after today and 3-1/2 hours of taking hit apart, checking wires and connections, I still think they sold me a bad Sensor. Does anyone know if ya can read resistance or ohms in an inductive sensor and tell from that if it is good or bad? I am assuming the ordered Electricl Diagnostics manual will give good and bad parameters.
