First post, first time rider, first bike. I have an 06 XL883C with 8,800 miles currently. When I bought the bike I put on new Avon cobra tires on the front and rear as well as changed the worn pads to EBC pads front and rear.
My issue arose today on my way to work. I have had no issues so far since I had begun riding 350 miles ago.
My issue: When braking I am feeling a clunky feeling below my front pegs while my feet are on them. I honestly cannot determine if its the motor, coming from the front end, or the rear end. Its not a vibration, it is a clunky feeling.
- Issue does not happen when accelerating or riding at speed
-Issue only happens when braking and going below 10mph
-Issue does not happen while sitting at idle.
Any suggestions or ideas where to start? I was thinking maybe a bad front rotor???
In addition to the above, I put the HD swing arm bad on....The issue now that I think of it arose after putting this on. Would something with the bag really cause a clunking?
Check you straps on that bag, maybe one has gotten stuck up in your caliper, my bag straps around the frame, but has a little leather strap at the bottom and its really close to the caliper
Thanks for the Suggestion Zateeva. I have the HD bag with the hard mount. There is a mount that mounts to the holes for the passenger peg( Which I had to get rid of) and the a bracket comes around the frame that it also bolts into.
is mounted to frame, but didn't want those little straps flapping and getting caught in rotor, i could cut them off...........and not much movement in those short shocks, she's a rough lil rider.....but i love her.
I can pretty much guarantee the fork oil is old as hell and never changed. Put new oil in and pull those garbage hd springs out to replace with either progressives(cheap and easy) or racetech springs with emulators(not as cheap but still easy). Put some 10wt or 15wt depending on your wt.
