i've had my nightster for about month and the only problem i've had so far is the speedo when i'm going down the road at any speed the it will drop down to 0 for about 3 seconds and go back to normal and it will keep going on from time to time. i took it to the shop and they couldn't figure it out so if anyone knows whats going on please let me know.[/align]
I have an '06 1200R. Just had it at the dealer to repair the speedo. It was cutting out periodically just like you described. The sensor was replaced once last year but it started happening again this year. I noticed it happening after I washed the bike. It would stop and then start working after a while, probably after drying out. The plug that connects to the sensor on top of the transmission is not sealed where the wires enter the plug. Water get in and causes corrosion of the wires or maybe shorting. The dealer cleaned the wires and put grease inside the plug and on top of the plug to keep water out. I expect this will solve the problem if grease is re-applied, maybe once or twice a year. Dealer said it was a flaw in the design of the plug. Not sure if the Nightster has the same set-up but something to consider.
