I picked up a pair of 14” ape hangers from Craigslist. I am putting them on a 2006 sportster 1200 custom. I need a cable kit with a length of 18” because the bike has a stock 4” riser. I called jpcycles and they only have up to 16”. Can anyone help me with this?
It's not math.
It's the length you need.
Use wire, a coat hanger, tape measure from your Mom's sewing kit, etc.
Mount the bars. Consider the path/routing of the new cables/brake line. Measure, accordingly, while being mindful not to pinch or bind any of the components while the bars will be at full lock left-right, nor having them so excessively long they look like loops to the sky.
Used to be, in the olden days, cables/brake line would be expressed as,"stock plus X inches", with an additional determination of X-degree angle (90,180, etc., depending on the angle of the dangle) on the throttle cable end(s).
Lord knows what kinda crap they're pushing now-a-days.
