if you can't afford a good school, then forget about getting her a bike.
Unless you were going to give yours up.

If I am correct, doesn't Harley give you some money for the class if you buy a bike?

I was fortunate, I was able to take mine on a military base for free. For the base MSF course you have to have your own bike.

For my wife's class, off base, we will pay for it, but they have the motorcycles (small ones), so she doesn't have to fumble through it on my bike.

Wow...that course is $250!!! Yikes!!! My girlfriend wants to take it, but wow,we can't afford that!

Look at it this way. On top of getting excellent training, she gets to do it on someone else's bike. How much will it cost if she tries to start out learning on the heaver HD and drops it a couple of times in the process? Penny wise, pound foolish.

ORIGINAL: Im glad in one way I'm getting my solo seat back but, I'm wondering will I ever see my wife again?
Depending on how you feel about her you could be getting the best of both worlds. My wife and I both have sporties and ride together when possible. We do take our own solo trips though.

You guys must live in the 'high rent' district.

Around here the basic 3 day MSF Course is $190.

Once completed there are a couple of other nice benefits, besides the training you receive.

Before the course begins the state sends a 'certificate of completion' to the instructor(s) for each student registered in a specific class.

If you pass the course you just take the state certificate to the motor vehicle department, and you get a new license with your motorcycle endorsement the same day. You don't have to take any additional written or riding stills test.

You also receive an automatic 10% discount on your insurance premium with all insurance companies registered with the state.

I only paid $160 for the course. That was 5 years ago though. It is still worth the money.

You might also consider giving her your Sportster and buying yourself something along the lines of the Heritage or one of the baggers. Nothing like a little variety in your stable !!!!!

I just signed up here for the course here at the local state university for $20.00. It is a very popular course and takes a while to get into. I went to the DMV and took the written and got my learner's permit and practice a bit at the local high school. I bought a used sporty to start out on. Now it just needs to quit raining here!!!!
