Looking to swap out the stock 2.1 tank on my 2016 sporty. I live in the mountains with lots of long canyons and I'm sick of gambling on if I'm gonna have enough fuel between stops. Show me what you have, willing to buy or trade.
There was a stock iron tank for sale for awhile in the parts section, might see if it still is. I ended up getting a 4.5 off eBay for my 72 and honestly Im glad I didnt get the 3.3. Over an extra gallon and the look compliments the bike.
What does the 48 Stand for?
I am guessing it stands for 48 miles between fill-ups.
All joking aside, I love the 4.5 gallon capacity.
At 165 miles I switch to reserve and start planning what town I would like to explore, relax, refuel and refresh in.
If I am riding in a group, I will not force a rest-stop, knowing I have at least another 70 miles before I will need to start the worry cycle.
Of course, you could always carry a MSR Fuel Bottle in case of emergency.
They make them in many various sizes and most will pack away very nicely.
Providing an additional 10 miles of relief if you miss the mark,
For me, 4.5 gallons makes sense and 3.3 would take a bit of enjoyment out of my adventures.
The peanut tank would limit me to the next closest town. I would always be looking for my next fuel stop.
Not sure anyone would like to trade, but Ebay or Craigslist might have what you are looking for..
