I will likely keep wearing a full face. Peer pressure is hard and shorty/half helmets do look pretty cool, but I feel naked & risky without my mesh armored jacket on a 90 degree day in Florida!
I say, if that is your decision, do not let anyone change your mind!

I wish I could make myself wear a helmet.

I know it is just a matter of time until find myself in another accident. Last time I have been down was about 18 years ago. I was about 20. Last time I was in a very bad accident was 21 years ago. I was 17.

I figure I am over due for an accident. If it happens, and I survive, I willwish that I would have been wearing a helmet!

The only thing that worries me about ear plugs with a helmet on, if you get into an accident, and your laying there all beat up, and they start asking you questions about your condition, your not going to be able to hear them very well.
The foam earplugs we use on construction sites are designed to cut out the annoying frequencies from noisy equipment, but leave the human voice frequencies mostly unattenuated. I actually hear people better in noisy situations with the earplugs in; however, you should check with the local law enforcement to find out if earplugs are legal to ride with.

If I get a set of cycle shack slip-ons, I may have to provide earplugs for my neighbors. Yeah, right!

I don't use a windshield (for the most part), and don't wear a helmet.

When on longer runs I use the Hearos 32dB soft foam ear filters. They allow you to hear normal conversations and stuff, but filter out the high end noise.

But the main reason I wear them on long runs is to keep the wind from pounding against my ear drums and making my head feel like a 'bongo drum' after a few hundred miles on the road.

I wear glasses and contacts. I'll wear the full faced if I'm forced to wear glasses one day, and the bucket with goggles if I'm wearing contacts. I greatly prefer the wind in my face, but enjoy the peace and quiet the full face provides. Can hear everything better without the wind noise, and cuts out a good portion of the sewing machine sound so I can hear my exhaust better.

One suggestion on the flip up full face helmets. The screws on the Fulmer I bought have a tendency to work loose. When doing 70 on the interstate and the screw comes loose, and can really create a pucket factor while you try and figure out just what happened. Take the screws out and use a generous amount of locktite. From personal experience, it sucks sititng on the side of the road trying to fix your flip up visor.

As far as noise, so far is has not bother me a great deal. I doubt if I will by another Fulmer helmet though.

I wear my modular helmet for long highway rides and spring and fall riding . Mine is a little bit quieter than the 1/2 I usually wear in the summer..Mark

I always wear my Davida Lunar full face helmet. For the longer rides I use foam ear plugs like the ones we used in the army for firingpractice.
