Default Progressive monotube
I've had monotubes in my 2006 sportster 1200 for a month and on my way to work i lost my steering and bit the dust. After i checked it out it seems to sit like it has no pressure but when you take off the forks begin to come up. Thats all i know so far

We need to know more! Those cartridges have springs on them, which hold the weight of the bike up, AFAIK they can't lose 'pressure' as such.

I agree we need more info. You should still have steering if the forks compress. I have the monotubes myself, never a problem.
Did the steering lock up, did you feel the forks drop down?

Also, did you install them, or did a shop do the work. Curious if the small lower springs were reinstalled, they should have been.
