Default Windshield

17’ Harley 48 edition. So driving on highway the wind is a PIA. Do they make an easy detachable windshield?I don’t like they way they look, thinks it takes away from the look of the bike. I know I shouldn’t care but it really kills th look of the bike.
They should make one that sort of retracts ..kind of like you can pull it up from the handle bars and it would click into place...lol.

You can possibly use a Harley Quick Release Windshield, in this way no fitting is visible on the bike after taking of the windshield.

I've been riding behind windshields and fairings for over 50 years now. You have no choice - either get a decent shield and get used to it, or suffer! The Harley qd windshield is great, takes a few moments to install or remove, so you can be comfortable on long/wet/windy rides, then strut your stuff naked on shorter ones. You can agonise over this forever, or just do it! Get the tall egg-shaped one - shorter ones will just direct the slip-stream straight into your face.

It's funny that you are having issues. The bike before my 48 was a Suzuki Boulevard M50 and I had to bite the bullet and put on a short shield. Anything over 60 was a chore.
I bought my 48 and was concerned that I would have to do the same thing but it has not been an issue. I find I sit more 'in' the bike than 'on' the bike. I can run 70 with one hand and no
issues. FYI I'm 6' tall and sis switch to a Mustang Tripper Fastback seat which sits a bit lower and provides a lip to keep from sliding back at speed

The clamps are simple lever-operated things, dead easy to use. The shield can be raised or lowered a little, by simply moving it on the forks relative to where you can see it.

I have the quick release mounts from H-D and they do work good, very quick and very easy. Like you i don't really like the look when its on the bike, but I do use it when its cold cause it does help there. I have the short tented windshield and it does put the wind right about my face. And something else, at higher speeds kind of feels like I'm riding on a knuckle ball.
