Is there a point to purposely bouncing an engine off the rev limiter, or is it just the 'cool' thing to do?
its a two step rev limiter. The one you are watching is set at 5500rpm, the rev limiter is at 8200rpm. I pull up to the tree 🌲 in a drag race, hold it wfo after the second staging light 💡 comes on. When the light turns green I throw the clutch and the 5500 rev limiter is disengaged. Then the bike takes off and I shift as normal at 8000rpm.
Instead of holding the throttle half way ish at 5500 to launch this device holds that specific rpm so I dont have to. Once the clutch is tossed at the launch the bike is wfo. There is a switch on the clutch lever to tell the 2step when and when not to work. Hope that makes sense and I dont things because they are cool, hip or fad of the month. I wanna go fast and quick, PERIOD. Two steps have been around for decades for just about every racing machine known to mankind
sounds hot-
I'm excited too as I signed up for my first track day- May 14th Thompson CT
gonna qualify that statement...as it is through Tony's track days and is a non sportbike day at the track
not racing-
but looking forward to developing my line, improving my body position, lean angle flick and breaking at speed.
plan to also spend time getting the shock settings dialed in-

awesome!!!! Good luck, stay safe and keep us posted!!!! No time like seat time!
Besides his explanation, there is a lot going on up here at the line, the waiting, then the burn out, get in the groove, the staging process, repeating dont red light in your head!, watching the tach, the light etc. then you launch! While you are in the staging lanes it looks like you have a lot more time while you watch the guys in the lane ahead of you. I am still learning it all, but you cant get a bigger rush.
The close races are won right there at the green, go on yellow!

agreed, when I start going deep into the rounds most guys usually run their number and it is determined at the tree 🌲
