thanks for the help, I think i'm going to give it a try. the one way valve you are talking about, what year was your explorer and is that a emmission vavle or a a/c valve.also can you tell me the color code of the valve.
thanks
I found the one through Ford and it's only $6.00 not bad to try. you also said you left the plastic breather line unhooked, did you run a hose up top higher than the oil tank? and also the valve is hooked up so it's breathing out and not letting fresh air in..... I thinks thats right?
Yes hook it up so that it breaths out not in, I did put a line on the end of the valve to route it to the ground since it spits a few drops of oil. The tank vent stays dry just unhooked but you could put a hose on it if you wanted.
Sounds like a servo check valve. I can see it in the picture, but it looks like Ford has obsoleted that part from my catalogue.......can't even order one from them......and it hasn't switched to Motorcraft. They quit putting them on the Explorer in 95
rbcss... I'm interested in seeing what they've looked up for you....I'm getting a part number, but FoMoCo is saying I can't order it. Hrm....curious
the part number I orderd was a E3ZZ-9C793-A the one for the explorer is obsolete that part number was E3ZZ-9C793-Bthere is a couple of he B numbers still in the system around the US. the A number is a"T" style I'm going to block off one end and then it will be the same as the B or I might put it in line on the vent tube ane have it breathe out the top.
also I ordered another valve E9AZ-9C727-B which is the dump valve on that explorer, I'm going to see how that one works I believe that one will work like the B number.
george, look on d2d link you can still find the old number out there if you want. I also work for Ford but if you read the articals on xl forums you can use the valve I got in the place they said to put a "t"
