You also need to change the complete front brake line, I convert the oem ones to accept any length on the upper side. If you are looking
at oem parts, I think the ones from a 72 could fit but I am not 100% sure so ask the dealer or perhaps another forummember can confirm.

Yes I was thinking getting a two piece brake cable from Magnum Shielding, as far as I can tell the 72 has a 27" upper cable and the 48 has a 17" upper cable.

I am not sure but I used this setup for a friend of mine who is running 12" ape and the cable has a bit of slack.

Yes that will do more the fine, because you can use the oem throttle and cluth cable untill a 10" mini ape, I'm running that setup on my Iron and Forty Eight.
