help with code p0262
Hello, I have a 2011 xl883l that i recently acquired. 2000 miles. rode it yesterday, and it ran well. Came home, parked it. Went to refire abt an hour later, and its misfiring. Checked codes, came up P0262. checked resistance of both injectors 13.8 ohms. checked resistance of the wiring from the connection under the seat to injector(with harness attached to injector) 13.8 ohms. im trying to find the dang computer, so I can check that end of the harness. Any ideas of where I should look? Trying to not have to tear it way down to find it. Thanks in advance.
If you look behind the rear cylinder and above the starter you'll see a black plastic cover with the fuel pump and rear o2 sensor wires going into it. Behind that cover is the ECM. The cover should be held in place by a button head screw that I think is 5/32" in size. Put a cloth down over the starter area so that if the screw drops it doesn't disappear..
13.8 ohms for your injectors is within spec.
Have you tried a noid or test light across the 2 pin block connector to the injector to see if it's getting a pulsing power from the ECM whilst turning bike over?
Also check for battery voltage during the first couple of seconds after you turn the ignition on as the system relay powers up the coil, injectors and fuel pump momentarily on the yellow/green wire to the injector.

Update... I found that I actually DO have pulse from the ecm, to both injectors, but it seems like the signal drops a couple seconds after startup. it starts on both cyls every time, but #2 starts missing after 2 or 3 seconds. the harness from the injectors to the ecm checked out good. So what I'm wondering is- do I just say F it and drop the dough for the new ecm, or is there something else I can test? Also, just put 2 new injectors in it . Did not change a thing, but at least I have a couple spares
Is there a way for something like the ecm you could get a dealer to do the diagnoses to save on the purchase of one if it is not faulty?

At least not on 1 cyl
